While no-one knows what kind of Brexit we’ll end up with, we do know that almost any kind of Brexit will affect how we deal with VAT and duty. Here’s what I think you could usefully be doing now –
1. Map out how all of your purchases and sales work in terms of geography and contracts.
2. Use your maps to plot the different VAT and duty implications for each Brexit alternative be it soft, medium or hard.
3. Each scenario map should help you to isolate possible pinch points for which you decide on the best strategy.
Although we won’t know how this is all going to work for a while yet, that’s no excuse for doing nothing. If you have a strategy for dealing with each possible outcome, you can hit the ground running and not risk getting left behind. You can read more about how to do this here
